Research Projects

Data Centre Thermal Management

We develop advanced cooling strategies for data centre servers, combining high-fidelity CFD with experimental techniques such as PIV and infrared thermography. Our work spans synthetic jet arrays, liquid cooling architectures, waste heat recovery, and energy modelling to reduce the environmental footprint of digital infrastructure.

Microfluidics and Micromixing

Our research explores novel micromixer and micropump devices, including actuated membrane synthetic jet configurations for lab-on-a-chip applications. We investigate flow physics at the microscale through numerical simulation and experimental validation to achieve rapid, efficient mixing in compact geometries.

Thermal Energy and Phase Change

We study heat transfer in phase change materials, droplet evaporation, and boiling processes for thermal energy storage and management applications. This theme combines fundamental transport phenomena with applied system-level design for energy efficiency.

Turbulence, Aerodynamics and Acoustics

Our work in this area covers turbulent boundary layers, jet impingement heat transfer, aero-acoustics, and indoor environmental quality including soundscape assessment. We use both computational and experimental approaches to characterise complex flow and acoustic fields.
