Dr Sahan Hasaranga Wasala is a Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin specialising in aeroacoustics, fluid dynamics, and thermal management. Based within the Department of Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Biomedical Engineering, his research focuses on the prediction and mitigation of noise in complex systems, particularly for electronics cooling infrastructure.
He completed his PhD in 2017, focusing on wind turbine noise, and subsequently served as an SFI RD&I Fellow with Seagate Technology (USA) on data centre noise reduction. Dr Wasala also served as a Senior Scientist at Collins Aerospace, where he contributed to the development of next-generation hybrid-electric regional aircraft by designing quieter ventilation systems and optimising cabin pressure control. His professional background also includes a research position at Chalmers University of Technology, where he was involved in the EU-funded IMAGE project on aircraft noise reduction.
